Action Plans
|
The International action plan for the Red-breasted Goose (Branta ruficollis) was: - Drafted in 1994/95 by the WWT on behalf of BirdLife International (Hunter & Black 1996)
- Adopted by the Ornis Committee, the Bern Convention and the Bonn Convention
- Published in 1996 by the Council of Europe
- The IAP covers the species' global range: Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Greece, Kazakhstan, Romania, Russian Federation, Turkey, and Ukraine.
The aim of the IAP - In the short term, to maintain the Red-breasted Goose population at no less than 70,000 individuals.

| | MONITORING | | Simultaneous winter counts for Red-breasted Goose | | | The main wintering sites for Red-breasted Goose are along the Black Sea cost in Ukraine, Romania and Bulgaria. In order to collect more information about the dynamic and size of the population of Branta ruficollis simultaneous winter counts are conducted at wintering sites. Starting with November till the end of March, each year, teams of ornithologists from Ukraine, Romania and Bulgaria are counting Red-breasted Goose twice a month. |
