Objectives

The Red-breasted Goose International Working Group is establish to co-ordinate the implementation of the Red-breasted Goose International Single Specie Action Plan (ISSAP) in order to give the maximum protection for the specie on it's flyway. At the Red-breasted Goose International Conservation Action Workshop which took place in Tulcea, Romania (July 25th - 26th 2005) an International Working Plan was drafted in order to ensure the implementation of the ISSAP. MONITORING

Simultaneous winter counts for Red-breasted Goose

The main wintering sites for Red-breasted Goose are along the Black Sea cost in Ukraine, Romania and Bulgaria. In order to collect more information about the dynamic and size of the population of Branta ruficollis simultaneous winter counts are conducted at wintering sites.

Starting with November till the end of March, each year, teams of ornithologists from Ukraine, Romania and Bulgaria are counting Red-breasted Goose twice a month.
